ABOUT THIS SERVICE

Corticosteroid injections can be considered for selected joints, bursae and other musculoskeletal problems when clinically appropriate. Steroid injections at JaDex require a separate face-to-face assessment before treatment so that the diagnosis, alternative options, potential risks and expected benefits can be discussed. If an injection is appropriate, a private prescription is then arranged before your injection appointment.

WHO IS IT FOR?

________

People with selected inflammatory or painful musculoskeletal conditions where a corticosteroid injection may be an appropriate option following assessment.

________

BENEFITS & GOALS

Reduce pain and inflammation where appropriate; improve comfort and function; create an opportunity to progress rehabilitation and activity; form part of a wider management plan rather than being relied upon as a stand-alone solution.

WHAT TO EXPECT?

You first attend a separate clinical assessment to establish whether a steroid injection is appropriate. If you decide to proceed, a private prescription is arranged for you to collect from a pharmacy before returning with the medication for your injection appointment. The procedure, potential benefits and risks, aftercare and any rehabilitation considerations are discussed before treatment.
